Super Quick and Simple Daily Makeup Routine

I consider myself a pretty chill, no-frills kind of girl… some (like my mother) may call it ‘lazy.’ When I got to high school age, my mom would tell me to never leave the house without at least mascara and lip gloss on. I really didn’t take her seriously until probably this year. Although I’d much rather roll out of bed and go out into the world bare face, the truth of the matter is, I look tired and washed out when I do this.

Therefore, I concocted a super simple, quick morning makeup routine that takes less than 10 minutes to complete. I use just 8 products.

  1. Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer
  2. Make Up Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer
  3. Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer
  4. Wet n Wild Photo Focus Eyeshadow Primer – Only A Matter of Prime
  5. Smashbox Cover Shot Eyeshadow Palette (Ablaze)
  6. Wet n Wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner
  7. Wet n Wild MegaProtein Mascara
  8. MAC Lipglass (Rebel) or MAC Dazzleglass (Love Alert)

Covering My Bases

I always clean my face and put on moisturizer before putting on makeup. I have pretty weird combination skin so using moisturizer keeps the dry patches under control while allowing makeup to go on smoothly. I choose to use Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer because it contains salicylic acne medication which helps prevent breakouts.

Next, I apply Make Up Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer, a mattifying primer made specifically for oily skin, to the areas of my face that get pretty oily (my forehead and nose). I used to apply it to my eyelids as well because eyeshadow does not last long on oily eyelids, however, I finally found a fix: Wet n Wild Photo Focus Eyeshadow Primer – Only A Matter of Prime. This stuff goes on tan but dries clear pretty quickly and it does not come off. It’s also waterproof so it’s the perfect base for my eyeshadow which won’t come off until I want it off.

Lastly, I use Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer to cover any blemishes, specifically my dark and baggy under-eye area.

More Than Meets the Eyes

With only 7 minutes left, it’s time to focus on the eyes. Accuracy is most important when it comes to the eye makeup because if your hand is shaking while you’re putting on eyeliner or mascara, you are going to look wild. Therefore, this part takes me the longest, about 6 minutes.

My morning routine isn’t the time to experiment with different color combinations, so depending on my outfit, I’ll either use the two pink colors on the left together (the darker color first), or the two orange colors closest to the right (the darker orange first) from the Smashbox Cover Shot Eyeshadow Palette (Ablaze).

Next, I do a thin line of eyeliner with a tiny wing since I don’t want to be too dramatic going to work and wings are actually difficult for me to perfect. 7 minutes left, remember?!? I use Wet n Wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner because it’s inexpensive and it glides on so smoothly. Lastly, Wet n Wild MegaProtein Mascara. I swipe that wand in every which direction on my eyelashes and finish with a few upward swipes. I love using Wet n Wild MegaProtein Mascara because, not only is it waterproof, it also contains soy and wheat proteins, acai oil, and D-Panthenol to help protect and strengthen your lashes.

Lip Service

And just before I hit the door, I gotta finish the look with one of these awesome MAC colors, MAC Lipglass (Rebel) or MAC Dazzleglass (Love Alert).

So, in less than 10 minutes, I went from looking like I actually did just wake up, to ready to run the world!

What’s your morning routine?
